SoulIISoul are a British group that formed in London, England in 1998. As their name suggests, the group write and perform mainly soul music as well as dance, R and B, reggae and rap tunes. The group's initial success and rise to fame came with their 1989 single "Keep on Movin" which achieved worldwide popularity with over a million copies of the recording being sold in the US alone. This was quickly followed in the same year with a first album, "Club Classics Volume One" which sold over four million copies worldwide, and another hit single "Back to Life". A further number one album followed in 1990, several tracks from which, such as “People” and “Missing You”, achieved significant chart success as singles. The group received five nominations for the American Music Awards in 1990 and won three Soul Train Music Awards and two Grammy Awards in the same year, the latter awards being in the "Best R & B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal" category. Membership of the group has changed considerably and regularly over the years with fifteen different people having been group members at some point. Current performers are Caron Wheeler, Jazzie B, Aitch B and MC Chickaboo. Wheeler featured in the group's original line-up in 1989 but left for short periods in the early 1990 and mid-1990s to pursue work as a solo artist. The early 1990s saw the group produce further successful albums and singles before disbanding completely in 1998 when its members decided to pursue solo careers. SoulIISoul subsequently reformed in 2007 and well received tours of Australia and the UK followed soon after. Their most recent album "Origins: The Roots Of Soul II Soul" was released in December, 2016, and the group has been on a worldwide tour since 2013.
